Rooted ("Rooted," "we," "our," or "us") provides a plant care app that helps users create plant profiles, track care routines, upload plant photos, receive reminders, and access premium features including AI plant identification and AI-generated plant details. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Rooted app and related services (the "Services").

By using Rooted, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Account Information

When you create or use a Rooted account, we may collect account information such as your email address, user identifier, sign-in details, and basic account metadata needed to authenticate you and keep your account working.

2. Plant Profile and Care Routine Information

Rooted stores the information you choose to add about your plants. This may include:

• Plant names and descriptions.
• Care notes you write.
• Watering frequency and light preference.
• Watering history and next watering date information.
• Other plant profile details you choose to save in the app.

We use this information to provide the app's core features, show your plant data back to you, support reminders, and improve how plant tracking works.

3. Plant Photos and Images

You may add plant photos to Rooted. Plant profile photos may be stored locally on your device for display in the app. If you use the "Check Plant Health" feature, the photo you upload is also saved to Firebase Storage so Rooted can process it, generate AI-based plant health results, and display those results in the app.

When you use AI features, including plant identification, plant detail generation, or plant health analysis, plant images may be processed by our AI service providers to help generate results.

4. AI Plant Identification Data

If you use Rooted's AI plant identification or AI detail features, we may process plant photos and related prompts or app data needed to generate a result. Rooted uses Firebase AI and Google Gemini for these features.

After a successful generation, AI results and related plant details may be cached or saved to your account so they can be shown again without generating them each time.

5. Purchase and Subscription Information

If you purchase Rooted Premium, subscription transactions are handled through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not directly collect or store your full credit card or payment card details.

We may receive limited purchase or subscription status information such as whether you have an active premium entitlement, product identifiers, transaction status, and related subscription metadata needed to unlock premium features. We use RevenueCat to help manage subscription and entitlement status.

Apple and RevenueCat may retain subscription, transaction, billing, refund, fraud prevention, tax, legal, and compliance records according to their own policies.

6. Device and Diagnostic Information

We may collect device, log, and diagnostic information such as device type, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, IP address, crash data, and basic technical usage information. We use this information to maintain security, fix bugs, improve performance, and support the Services.

7. Notifications

Rooted may send or schedule plant care reminders and other important app notifications if you allow notifications on your device. We use your plant care data, such as watering frequency and next watering date, to support reminder timing and delivery.

You can control notifications through your device settings.

8. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide account access and app functionality.
• Create and store plant profiles and care records.
• Display uploaded plant photos and saved plant content.
• Send or schedule plant care reminders.
• Provide premium features, including unlimited plants and AI features.
• Store or cache AI-generated details after successful generation.
• Maintain security, including through Firebase App Check and related protections.
• Monitor, debug, and improve app performance and reliability.
• Respond to support requests and user questions.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

9. Third-Party Services

Rooted relies on third-party service providers to operate the app. These may include:

• Firebase: for authentication, database, storage, hosting, app infrastructure, and related services.
• Firebase AI and Google Gemini: for AI plant identification and AI-generated plant details.
• RevenueCat: for subscription and entitlement management.
• Apple App Store and StoreKit: for in-app purchases, billing, and subscription processing.

These providers may process information as needed to perform services on our behalf or as part of the purchase and app delivery process.

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only as reasonably needed to operate Rooted, including with the service providers listed above, to protect the Services, to comply with law, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

11. Data Retention

We keep account data, plant profile information, AI-generated details, and related records for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Plant photos stored locally on your device remain on your device unless you remove them through the app, your device, or by deleting the app data on your device. Plant health photos saved to Firebase Storage may remain associated with your account until deleted by you, removed from your account data, or deleted as part of account deletion or data cleanup.

12. Data Deletion and Your Choices

You may be able to update or delete some information directly in the app. If you want to request deletion of your account or stored data, contact us at the email below.

Deleting your Rooted account removes Rooted account data, associated Firebase data, and Rooted local app data, but it does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription.

If you want to stop subscription renewal, you must cancel through your Apple ID subscription settings.

You can also control certain permissions, such as notification access, through your device settings.

13. AI Accuracy Disclaimer

Rooted's AI features may be helpful, but they can be incomplete, incorrect, or outdated. Plant identification results and AI-generated plant details are provided for general informational use within the app and should be reviewed carefully by the user.

14. Children's Privacy

Rooted is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Services, please contact us so we can review and address the issue.

15. International Data Processing

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the one where you live. By using Rooted, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your own.

16. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to help protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the effective date and post the revised version through the Services or related public pages.
